Vesakha- Puu Jih Shih Temple

The Birth, Enlightenment, And Passing Away

On the day of the trilogy of the prodigious events of Buddha is also the right time to take a tour of the Puu Jih Shih (Puji Si) temple in Sandakan, Sabah.

Vesakha day is also known as Vesak day or Fodan in Chinese. It celebrates the three major events of the life of Gautama Buddha as inferred to in the title of this post.

Puu Jih Shih temple is one of the best exemplified architectural beauties Sabah has to boast about. But I have a sneaking feeling the temple was designed by some architects outside of Sabah. Because it just does not add up to all the edifices that I have seen so far over here. The artistic creation just completely threw me. Could a Sabahan architect really come up with a master piece such as this? I am still waiting to be amazed.

This is a let-down to charge you up, in a way, for those of you who do not understand the purpose behind the above statement.
